The Ladies of Our Lady of Canada Catholic Church are hosting a Gathering for all the Catholic Ladies on Manitoulin Island. Tuesday May 18th, 2010. THE EASTERN MANITOULIN FRIENDSHIP CLUB INVITES YOU TO ATTEND A EUCHRE TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD THIS FRIDAY MAY THE 21ST AT 1:30 PM AT THE KNOX UNITED CHURCH IN MANITOWANING. COST IS $5 PER PERSON AND THAT INCLUDES LUNCH.

 

The GRASS ROOTS GARDEN CLUB iS HAVING A PLANT SALE with PERENNIALS INCLUDING HOSTA, ANNUALS, HERBS, HOUSEPLANTS, BULBS & TOMATOES on SAT. MAY 22ND AT 9:30 A.M. AT THE INFORMATION BOOTH PARKING LOT IN LITTLE CURRENT.  POOR WEATHER LOCATION - ARENA, EAST SIDE, INSIDE THE ZAMBONI DOORS.

The Elizabeth Bay United Church is having a Yard Sale, Perennial Plant Sale and Bake Sale on May 22nd from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Joyce Morrell's located at 85 Old Hwy in Evansville off Hwy 540 west of Gore Bay.

A stomp Rodeo Tween Event for children in grades 4-6 will be held on Friday May 28th from 7-9pm. The evening includes fun with games, snacks, and more! For more information on this free night contact the Espanola Queensway Pentecostal Church at 869-1718.

 

The Massey Players' Present You Can't Be Too Careful! Performances will take place at the Walford Community Hall on Friday May 28th and on Saturday May 29th at 6:30 p.m. More performances are schedules at St. Mary School in Massey on Tuesday June 1st and Wednesday June 2nd. At 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 844-2289 and for more details see their website at www.masseyplayers.com

 

The Beer Store in Blind River will be holding a bottle drive for Leukemia on Saturday May 29th at the Blind River location.  M&M Meats will be there hosting a BBQ as well as face painting and prizes.  I hope that everyone will come out to support such a worthwhile cause.

 

The Little Current Curling Club invites you to its giant fundraising events on Sat, May 29th at the NEMI Rec Center. It starts with an indoor yard sale, pie sale and Crafters sale from 8:30 a.m until 12:30 P.M. Admission is free with coffee available. It continues with a prime rib roast community supper. Social hour is at 5:00 p.m. with supper at 6:30 P.M. Included in this is a loonie auction sponsored by the Bank of Montreal with 6 great prizes to be auctioned. It will be followed by a dance featuring the live music of the ROCKAFELLAS at 9:00 P.M. The dinner and dance tickets are $25.00 per adult or $15.00 for either the dinner or the dance. There will be a Country Music Show with the Dewars on May 29th at the Sheguiandah Hall starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $7 per person.

The Little School House and Museum is having a Prime Rib Diner at the Royal Michaels Bay Restaurant on Friday April 30th with dinner starting at 6 p.m. tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling Margaret at 859-3738.

 

There will be a Spring Fling Dance. To help The Royal Canadian Legion who is teaming up with Deanna Lewis for her upcoming excursion to Croatia to work with the Orphans As part of her College Early Childhood Education Program the dance will take place at The Legion Hall on Saturday May 1st from 9:00PM-1:00AM admission is $5.00 this is a licensed event so please no minors and Tickets are available at the Legion or from Deanna Lewis.

 

Manitoulin Island's Classic School of Dance is staging a full-scale ballet production of Peter Pan on Sunday, May 2nd at Manitoulin Secondary School in M'Chigeeng.   The show features interesting blend of multi-cultural music underpinning a timeless story about dreams and innocence.  Choreographed and directed by Maja Mielonen, the production includes dancers from across Manitoulin, ranging in age from 4 to 17. The show begins at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 2nd.  Tickets will be sold at the door: $7.00 for adults, and accompanied children under the age of 12 receives free admission.

 

On May 5th there will be a Mother's Day tea held at the tehkummah hall at 7:30 p.m. Admissionis $5 and this event is sponsored by the Fairview United Church Junior UCW.

 

The M.S.S Artastic Fusion is once again calling all those creative to participate in or just come out and enjoy this year's 5th annual art show on May 7th, 12:OO until 7:OO p.m. at Manitoulin Secondary School. Once again the undiscovered talents of innovative students and those of established MFAA artists will be showcased side by side to the public.

 

See the Manitoulin Community Choir In Concert on Saturday, May 8th at 7:30 PM at the Little Current United Church or Thursday, May 6th at 7:30 PM at the Kagawong Park Center. Admission is $10 per person, or $20 per family.

 

The M'Chigeeng High School is leased to announce Artastic Fusion will take place at the high school in West Bay [ M'Chigeeng ]. This is a show of our young artistic talent and will be judged. The show will be open to the public from 12 noon till 7pm on 7th of May. All are welcome. Please come and support our youth.

 

On Saturday, May 8 at 9am the United Church in Little Current has its 11th annual plant sale.  Included in the sale is a wide variety of locally hardy perennials, shrubs and vegetable garden plants.   Hundreds of garden favourites and new varieties are available. The Mother's Day Tea and Bake Table follow the plant sale, which begins at 9am, at 11 am

 

The St. Andrews United Church will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Sunday May 16th from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Meldrum Bay Community Hall.  Cost is only $7 for adults and $4 for children under the age of 12!

The Gore Bay Theatre presents the hit Broadway show Oliver on December 11th and 12th at 7:30 p.m. For tickets call 282-0538 or 1-800-520-5518. Tickets will also be available at the door.

 

The Mindemoya United Church invites you to a musical night at the Crèche on Thursday December 12th at 7 p.m. it's a night of music and song plus cribs from around the world.

 

Wasse-Abin High school in Wikwemikong presents Art Show and Coffee House on Friday December 11th from noon to 3 p.m. You are invited to experience the exciting modern style and technique of this new generation of Wikwemikong artists. The St. Gabriel's Parish Council Christmas Bazaar will be held on December 12th at the Birch Island Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To reserve a table call Jean at 285-4465.

 

Have breakfast with Santa at the Twin Bluffs Restaurant on December 12th from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Donations in support of Manitoulin Family Resources will be gratefully accepted. To reserve a table call 282-2000.

 

The Island Singers present Sing Noel featuring Christmas favorites on Saturday December 12th at 7 p.m. at the Little Current United Church and Monday December 14th at 7:30 p.m.

 

SING NOEL, a choral concert by the Island Singers of Manitoulin will be presented on Saturday, December 12th at 7:30 pm. Little Current United Church and Monday, December 14th at 7:30 pm at Mindemoya Missionary Church. The concert will feature Christmas favourites and works by Fauré, Handel and Haydn. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.

 

Christmas Social Dance on December 12 from 7:30-11:00pm at the Gordon Hall. Admission is a silver collection at the door. Older country and rock'n'roll music and a light lunch.

 

A Children's Christmas party on December 20, 2009 from 2:00-4:00pm. Admission is $2.00 per child. There will be cookie decorating, craft making, story telling and a visit from Santa. The Gordon/Barrie Island Culture and Recreation Committee are putting these events on.

 

The 4th Annual Boxing Day Sponge Puck Tournament will be held on Dec. 26, 2009 at the Manitowaning Arena. Mixed teams, entry fee is $150, contact Sue at 859-3767 for more information or to enter your team.
